ANCIENT VALLEY - 古树熟普

An intense and dark Ripe (Shou) Pu’er tea with flatty and slightly twisted dry leaves. These leaves unfold and expand quickly in water and dissolve in red liquid with a smooth sweet and mouthful texture. Ripe Pu’er often presents a distinct ashy flavour due to the hastened fermentation process. But its texture is very delicate with an herbal taste complemented with fresh honey aromas.

Tea story

The history of Pu’er tea can be traced back to over one thousand years ago. And Menghai has been the most famous tea production area. This Pu’er tea is produced from 130-year-old ancient tea trees that have been nurtured by the peaceful valley. Ripe Pu’er is a typical type of fully fermented tea. It shows promising health benefits in decreasing blood sugar levels, promoting skin health, reducing anxiety and aiding weight loss. The natural components and flavours have also been well developed in this 2017 tea.

Many Pu’er teas are pressed into tea cakes through machinery to better support tea storage and transportation. The ones with higher quality are normally shaped through stones by hand. Our dragon balls are entirely handmade by local farmers to improve their preservation and quality.

Brewing recommendations

1pc | 100ml | 100 °C | 30s,1s,1s..

We recommend a steeping temperature of 100 °C (212 °F), allowing the boiling water to dissolve the dragon ball through the first brew. After keeping it in the cup for 30 seconds with 100ml water, drain off the water from the tea leaves completely to begin the actual brewing.

For the following 3 times, you can pour the water out directly after brewing. When it gets less strong, allow the leaves to stay longer every time and slowly increase the brewing time depending on your preference. This tea can be re-steeped many times and later boiled with other natural ingredients such as flowers and fruit.
