The dry leaves of this first-grade Dianhong tea are tightly twisted with a dark-brown outer layer, but they become an extraordinarily beautiful Red (in Chinese: Hóng) after steeping. It produces a smooth buttery-like liquid surrounded by a golden halo, and the tea leaves remain reddish brown after re-steeped several times.

TEA STORY

Chinese name: Ye Sheng Dian Hong 野生滇红

A high standard was applied to this Chinese red -Dian Hong tea from cultivation to production. It has been nurtured on a sustainable tea plantation of a mountain range (1600-2400m), which provides the ultimate natural and undisturbed environment for the growth of ancient tea trees. Only the leaves that qualified for the ‘1 bud & 2 leaves’ standard were plucked for production. It then goes to the hands of tea specialists to produce the final product. Most of them have over 20 years of tea-making experience. The dry leaves have a dark appearance which is a speciality of tea produced from wild tea trees.

Brewing instructions

Steeping

3g | 100ml | 95°C | 5s

We recommend a steeping temperature of 95 °C (205 °F), where you can set the boiling water aside and allow it to cool down for less than a minute. Then take 3 grams of tea with 100ml water to steep for 5 seconds, and increase to 8 seconds after steeping for 3 times. The tea can be re-steeped several times when using a tea egg, filter bag, or Chinese Gaiwan/Yixing teapot.

You can always adjust the quantity and brewing time based on your preference. When using a larger container like a tea pot, you can take a small quantity and leave it in for a few minutes.

Cold brew

5g | 750ml | 5 °C | 4-8 hrs

Take 5 grams of tea with 750ml water and keep it in the fridge for 4-8 hours. We recommend preparing it in the evening before you go to bed, or in the morning so you can enjoy it during the day. If you want to keep it in the bottle for longer hours, please start with a lower amount of tea to avoid getting too strong. This tea can be reused for 2-3 times of cold brew.

I have fallen in love with the smoothness of this tea

I found this tea on a fair where they were selling it. Immediately I fell in love with the smooth smells.
Just like the smell the flavor was very smooth and full. I sadly couldn't find out where to buy more until recently. I'm so happy I found yin cha again I will be looking forward to my next order.
