Description

TEA STORY

Chinese name: Bai Mu Dan 白牡丹

The White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) is a well-known Chinese white tea in China and now abroad. Thanks to its typical appearance of large downy silvery buds supported by the leaves around it, many found it resembles the beautiful peony flowers.

This famous white tea has great nutritional value throughout its lifetime. Especially the aged white peony is favoured by many tea lovers as it is the best time to savour the unique herbaceous and autumnal flavours. This tea is also suitable to be stored for a few more years which helps to further develop its tastes and value.

This tea belongs to our Yìn 印 | TRACE collection.

Brewing instructions

3g | 100ml | 95 °C | 15s

We recommend a steeping temperature of 95 °C (205 °F), where you can set the boiling water aside and allow it to cool down for less than a minute. Then take 3 grams of tea with 100ml water to steep for 15 seconds, or increase to 20 seconds if you prefer a stronger taste. The tea can be re-steeped several times when using a tea egg, filter bag, or Chinese Gaiwan/Yixing teapot.

You can always adjust the quantity and brewing time based on your preference. When using a larger container like a tea pot, you can take a small quantity and leave it in for a few minutes. It is a great tea for slow-boiling on a stove that helps to release its full flavours and nutrition.
